In The Kick’s very first Q and A episode, Dr Pat and Brigid answer the following questions:
[1:24] Anonymous: After a complex first birth with ongoing pelvic health issues should I opt next time for a Caesarean section?
Dr Pat suggests starting first with the debrief process to learn what happened in the first birth and the chances of the complexity occurring again. This includes learning about the severity of different outcomes of the first birth, what interventions were made and why, what risk factors still remain and the level of remaining complications. He also suggested learning about planned Caesareans to help the caller decide their birth preference for subsequent babies.
[5:59] Emily: Please tell me more about GBS swab and should we say yes or no to this test?
Is this intervention worth it? Dr Pat talks about why he thinks the test IS worth doing and why. You can also go to episode 14 for a more indepth episode.
[8:17] Lucy: at 22 weeks wants to know about Vasa previa
This is a very rare complication. Dr Pat talks about when this is normally detected during a pregnancy and the special precautions are taken during pregnancy and labour.
[14:47] Sophia: How do I prepare better for newborn life?
